I graduated and received my MSW from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, and am a Clinical Licensed Social Worker, LCSW. I am also a certified teacher in Special Education. I have experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings as well as a background working with individuals with dual diagnosis.
As a solution focused therapist, my goal is to introduce concepts for solution-oriented thinking. So often, individuals focus on the problem; which contributes to the vicious cycle of negative thinking, feeling hopeless, placing blame on others and being easily frustrated. Negative thinking can lead to giving up; resulting in old behaviors and patterns. Together we will take a look at the problem but focus on the solution. The goal is to help individuals focus on the positive and take responsibility for behaviors and actions. Solution focused thinkers see problems as temporary challenges that can be overcome.
